Felix Schlesinger (1833-1910) was a prominent German genre painter associated with the Düsseldorf School. Born into a family of artists, he received his initial artistic training in Hamburg under Friedrich Heimerdinger in 1848. His journey continued with studies in Antwerp, the Düsseldorf Art Academy, and Paris, shaping his early artistic development.
Between 1861 and 1863, Schlesinger focused on his craft in Frankfurt am Main before settling in Munich, where he established himself as a genre painter of significant acclaim. His works were regularly exhibited in major art centers like Munich, Dresden, Vienna, and Berlin.
Schlesinger’s artistic focus primarily centered around scenes depicting family life and children in rural settings. Though details of his personal life remain sparse, the tender portrayals of children in his paintings suggest he was a husband and father, possibly featuring his own children in his artworks.
